Auto-Air 4004 Transparent Base

4001 Auto Air Sealer White A low-build sealer used as the initial application of Auto Air Colors. Has excellent coverage and adhesion to primers & prepared surfaces. Works best with a 0.5mm airbrush operated at 45+ PSI or a 1.2mm tip-sized spray gun operated at 40 PSI. Tint with 4200 Series Semi-Opaque or Transparent Colors to create a color-keyed sealer base to improve coverage of colors. The mix ratio is not specific. Mix colors approx. 25% per volume to tint sealer. Dry-sand with 600 – 800 grit paper to create a smoother surface before applying colors. Excellent adhesion direct to urethane, epoxy and lacquer primers. Excellent adhesion to existing finishes, prepare by scuffing with 600 grit. Excellent adhesion to prepared substrates; aluminum, fiber-glass, glass, wood, vinyl and ceramics. Plastics - use an adhesion promoter first. Bare, untreated metal – apply a DTM etch-primer follwed by 4001 Sealer White or 4002 Sealer Dark. Intended for application with a spray gun or large tip-sized airbrush. Spray-Gun: 1.2mm tip Mini-Spray Gun: 1.0mm tip Airbrush: 0.4mm or larger Reduce: Spray-gun: @ 10% per volume with 4011 Flash Reducer Airbrush: @ 30% per volume or more with 4011 Flash Reducer 4001 Sealer White tinted @ 25% with 4206 Flame Red to create a pastel red sealer base 4206 Flame Red covers complete with 2 coats over the tinted sealer base -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4002 Auto Air Sealer Dark Dark grey sealer with same properties as 4001 Sealer White. Use as initial coat for dark colors and for 4400 Series and 4500 Series Hot Rod Sparkle and Cosmic Sparkle Colors. Sealer dark is not a black. Use 4220 Deep Black for black bases. Silvers - mix Sealer Dark and White to create a lighter grey sealer base for 4100 Series Aluminum bases and 4300 Series silvers. Intended for application with a spray gun or large tip-sized airbrush. Reduces concentrated 4600 Series Candy Colors. Use as inter-coat with minimal build. Although not necessary, Transparent Base can be used as a protective inter-coat. Apply in very light amounts when doing so and allow for extended drying time. Inter-coat of Transparent Base over coarse 4400 Series Gem and 4500 Series Hot Rod Sparkle Colors assists top-coat clear in bridging over colors’ pearl-flakes. A little goes a long way when using Transparent Base as an inter-coat clear. Apply it as a drop coat. Do not “paint” it on with any significant build-up of material. Add to colors in any amount to increase transparency.
